Hello Sugar Quill community!
I'm revisiting After the End (again, as I do every few summers). I've searched from end-to-end of the internet like a perverted little imp looking for the outtakes that were in the old Yahoo groups. There are a bunch of outtakes by Zsenya listed on The Sugar Quill site, but I do recall there were more. Has anybody saved these?

7:39 am - The Cursed Child

So I don't know who, if anyone, is still into Harry Potter, but if anyone's interested, I read and reviewed Harry Potter and The Cursed Chiild. Outside of spoiler tags the review isn't majorly spoilery, although I do get nto some details, particularly characterization.

I have to say, the play is VERY Ron/Hermione! Seriously, if I didn't know better I'd say at least one of the writers was a Quiller... obviously they're a canon ship, but if you've read or seen it, you'll know what I mean.

In any case, my approval ratig is 87%. ;)

11:34 pm - "Rising from the Ashes" by Arabella and Jedi Boadicea?

Hate to break open old wounds, but I can't find this fanfic ANYWHERE although there are glowing reviews of it in even the most remote corners of the fandom.

Can anyone please post it online publicly or send me a copy at chocolatemint@cox.net?

1:26 pm - Fanfic Challenge

This isn't directly relevant to Sugar Quill, but I know a lot of people here still write fanfic, so I thought I'd still link. I have created a fanfic challenge, "Fixfest", where you fix old fanfics and WIPs. Because many of us have that bad fic lurking somewhere on the internet, just waiting to rise from the ashes and given new life.

11:02 pm - Where have the forums gone?

Sorry for being a pain, but it seems that there's something wrong with the forums. Ack, I have post-potter depression, and I'm desperate to read HP discussion! It says there's an IPS Driver Error... Anybody have a clue?

3:38 pm - Slowness?

Has the Quill been running really slow for anyone else? It often takes me several minutes to get to the archives and read a story.

10:20 am - Where have the archives gone?

What's up at www.sugarquill.net? All my bookmarks are broken and I basically can't see anything but the home page and the closed forums pages. Please, please don't say all those stories and art are lost! Oh, no!

8:17 pm - Where has After the End gone?
split_decisions I've been reading fanfic for five or six years now (less now than I used to) and After the End was the first really good fic that I read.
I'm re-reading it right now because I'm sick, and, well, because it's brilliant.
I was on about Chapter 12 earlier today, and all was well.
I tried to access it again about 20 minutes ago, and couldn't. Also, all the links from the homepage no longer send you anywhere (maybe that's been around a while, I haven't been on SQ in ages).
Also couldn't find Alchemilla's "Test of Time", the other SQ story I still have bookmarked.
Can someone else try to find it and let me know how it goes? I'm really worried! (To the extent that I just joined LJ to ask about it)
Fingers crossed for its reappearance... --split_decisions

2:05 pm - It's almost NaNoWriMo time again ...

I'm going to attempt this for the 4th time in 5 years and would like to chat with other former-Quillers (are we former?  Or are you a Quiller forever?) who are going to be drinking as much coffee as I am in November. :)  I'm AbleHistorian on the NaNo website.  Please add me at will!

8:30 am - Get Serious About Fluff

I'm trying to get some people to use the quillerfluffers community today as a forum on fluff writing (specifically rugged fluff) in honor of mrflyingfingers birthday. If you remember the forums and Fluffy Tuesday with any sort of fondness, and/or you are a friend of the Flying Fingers, comment on my post there.

9:05 pm - Finding After the End
ehrick Hello all,

I recently read After the End (I know, I'm a little behind) by Arabella and Zsenya after about a year of consistent prodding to do so by a good friend. I wish I hadn't waited. It was an excellent piece of fan fiction.

I'm looking into using Lulu to print out of copy of the story to give to my friend as a Christmas gift. I think it would go over well. Here's the problem: the pdf version of the story I found somewhere (maybe the yahoo group?) is the wrong format for Lulu. I can't fix it, since it's a pdf. The pdf mentions that it was generated from LaTeX markup. I'm familiar with LaTeX, and I could make the changes I want if I could get a hold of it.

The yahoo group seems defunct, and an sent using Sugar Quill don't seem to have gone through. Do any of you know who I could get in contact with to get a hold of the LaTeX files? (Even better, do any of you have them?)

10:14 pm - DC Quillers!

As most of you probably know, there was a horrible accident in DC today. I wanted to make a check in post to make sure everyone is okay.

I'm fine - I'm hardly ever in or near DC as it is, and fortunately today was no different. But I do know some Quillers were in the area, and wanted to check in.

Also comment if you hear from any Quillers. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is concerned. :/

5:25 pm - Rising From The Ashes by Arabella and Jedi Boadicea

I'm looking for a story called "Rising From the Ashes" by Arabella and Jedi Boadicea. I've tried their yahoo group, but it seems it is no longer active. I was wondering if anyone had another link or had the story on their computer? I read the prequel to it, and I would really love to read this story, so if you have it, please let me know!

Thanks! love.gif

5:36 pm - Help Requested

Dear Quillers,

I am wondering if any of you know whether it's possible to have my public email address removed from my writer's profile on the Sugar Quill? Searching for the email on Google brings up my story page, which is quite anxious-making. I sent a forum PM to Zsenya about it quite a while ago, but I don't think it got through. I'm not even sure which of the Quill authorities with zapping power are still active on the internet.

Thanks, all.

8:16 am - New Forum - Looking for Mods!

While many people have lost interest in Harry Potter, many more of us remain. Many of us still have thoughts and theories on the books. Many of us still read/write fanfic and create fanart.

In light of that, Nundu  - nundu_art  on LJ - and I have started up a new forum. But before everything can be 100% set in stone, we need one very crucial thing: moderators.

If you are interested, you can find out more about the board and moderating here. If you decide for any reason you'd rather not moderate, you can still join and offer any suggestions you have!

And please do not be intimidated by the fact that you have to "apply." We're actually doing it that way so that our choice in mods is as fair as possible.

Let Nundu or I know if you have any questions!

I hope no one minds but after thinking about the Beedle the Bard stories a bit more, I wondered if I asked the right question concerning the Warlock's Hairy Heart and decided to post another question or rather explore one of them more deeply.

Dumbledore in his discussion of the story mentions “the quest for invulnerability” as the darkest and strongest temptation of magic and claims that we wizards are “particularly prone to the idea that we can bend the nature of existence to our will.” ( I  noticed the use of the we. Dumbledore hints at his  own temptations in this area, but still keeps his own past private .) Do you think that is a fair assessment?  If the assessment isn't a fair one, is Dumbledore influenced by his own failings.  This book was written during the Order of the Phoenix, I assumed that the need he had at that time to think about Voldemort influenced his reading of the stories, but how much did an awareness of his own history?  Ariana is present through out the commentaries.  He mentions wizard families who lose their children to witch haters.  The witch in Fountain of Fair Fortune is not cured by magic.  The story is banned by Mugglehaters like his father was accused of being, like he once was perhaps?  The future stories deal with the desire to resurrect or bring back the dead in various ways and with kings who want to destroy witches.

Does Ariana's fate have something to do with Dumbldedore's own quest for invulnerability?  Does that have anything to do with refusing to love?
